Melissa B.’s “One Up” Earns 2026 InterContinental Music Awards R&B Finalist Nomination: Why This Recognition Matters

For me, this is one of them.

I am incredibly honored to announce that my single “One Up” has been named a 2026 Finalist in the R&B category at the InterContinental Music Awards (ICMA).

As an independent artist, receiving this recognition is both humbling and inspiring. “One Up” speaks from the perspective of someone who has grown emotionally. A woman who refuses to be blinded by attraction or fooled by someone’s intentions. Instead of settling for uncertainty, she chooses confidence, clarity, and peace.

The message is simple:

I see through your games… and I love myself enough to walk away.

In today’s world, where relationships can often be complicated by mixed signals and emotional uncertainty, I wanted to write something empowering. A reminder that love should never require you to lose yourself.

As someone who has spent years building an independent career, that distinction means everything.
